James Frank Obituary

James Frank
Big Rapids Michigan
May 5, 2025
James "Jim" Daniel Frank, 69, of Big Rapids, died May 5, 2025 at The Comfort Home in Reed City with family by his side.
He is survived by his twin brother Joel (Donna) Frank, sisters Claudia Frank, Colette Frank, and Brenda (Duane) Lach, sister-in-law Shirley Frank, and brother-in-law John Bommarito. He was preceded in death by parents Jerry (Gerry) Frank, Joyce (Al) D'Annunzio, and siblings Delores, Kary, Jonnie Frank, and Cindy Bommarito.
Uncle Jimmy is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, Jared, Angela, Austin, Gina, Travis, Tyler, Kipp, Adrienne, seven great-nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Jim was a cribbage master and mentor, loved the Western genre in both novels and TV, was a great cook and griller, and loved having friends and family over to the picnic table. He took pride in taking care of the family 10 acres and everyone's lawns, and drinking everyone's beers. He could weave a story so well, by the end you didn't care if it was true or not. Heaven got funnier on May 5th. A memorial gathering will be held at a future date to be announced. In Jim's honor, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Comfort Home in Reed City and Corewell Hospice.

Jimmy was a remarkable man. In the best of times and the worst, he always had something funny to say. His bravery at the end of life was an inspiration to everyone that came by to visit. Rest in peace. You will not be forgotten.

I have known Jim and his family since the 1960's when both of our families spent summers growing up on the Muskegon River. Fishing, building tree houses and playing together each summer.
I have always known Jim to be friendly and a person that was easy to talk to, especially as a neighbor. A person who would help you anyway he could.
Jim was also a good friend to my parents who lived down the street from him and now my sister and her husband that took over my mom and dad's place after they passed on. So he seems like he has always been a part of my family as well.
I know he will be missed and my condolences for his family, especially brother Joe and sisters Claudia and Collette who I also spent summers with growing up together on the Muskegon River.

Whoever wrote Jimmie's obit was spot on, Heaven did get funnier on May 5th. When I saw "Jim", I thought, "Uh oh, I've been calling him "Jimmie" for decades." I always felt happy to see him and always felt fully, completely accepted by Jimmie. And that acceptance is a gift that I will always cherish.
