BIG RAPIDS -- Norma Jean Lange, 93, a lifelong resident of Big Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, with her family at her side.
She was born June 24, 1924, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Edward A. and Bertha A. (Steffen) Lange. Norma graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1941, and immediately began working at the Pangborn Agency, which later became the Ariss Agency in Big Rapids. Her career as an administrative assistant in the insurance industry lasted over 47 years. Norma was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Big Rapids.
She had many interests including needlepoint projects, playing cribbage and she loved to travel.
Norma is survived by her nieces and nephews, Norma (Brian) Hockett, David Lange and Brenda Lange, all of Big Rapids, Kathlyn Lange, of Wisconsin, and Stephen (Mary Jo) Lange, of Muskegon; several great-nieces and -nephews; many cousins and lifelong friend, Fred Benedict, of Croton.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald Lange and John Lange Sr.; niece, Marta Ann Lange Culkin; nephew, John Lange Jr.; and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Lange and Barbara J. Lange.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside service at Highland View Cemetery this spring for family and friends.
