Philip Strong Obituary

Philip R. Strong
January 11, 2024
Philip R. Strong, age 69 of Barryton, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Meceola Currie Comfort Home in Reed City. He was born in Lowell on July 30, 1954, the son of the late Eddy and Mary (Craw) Strong. Philip graduated from Ada Christian High School in 1971 and then served his country honorably in the United States Marines.
Philip married Amy Bonham on May 2, 1986 and together they made their home and raised their family in Barryton. He was employed for more than 30 years as an industrial and residential painter with Gary Heemstra Painting and Percha Painting. Philip could always be found outdoors; fishing, hunting, and trapping. Philip enjoyed traveling and attending various churches. He loved reading the Bible and spreading God's word. Philip also looked forward to volunteering in his community with Amy.
He was a stern man with a loving heart; he stood up for his beliefs but had enough love to let things go. Philip is survived by his wife, Amy Strong of Barryton; three children, Isaac (Mackia) Strong of Barryton, Sara (fiancé Shaw Summa) Strong of Big Rapids, and Cathy Riley of Auburn Hills; granddaughter, Seirra; two brothers, Preston (Dee) Strong of Remus and Patrick Strong (Robin Fettes) of Rockford; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be planned for a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Philip's name to Meceola Currie Comfort Home, 204 N. Patterson Rd, Reed City, MI 49677.
Cremation and care entrusted to Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
