Dean Stevens Fisher, beloved wife of Erven Fisher Jr. passed from this world on April 3, 2017, at Midland, Texas.
The loved ones she joins in heaven include her parents, V.T. and Johnnie Stevens; a daughter, Suzanne Shepard; grandsons, Sean Eric Fisher and Justin Noel Shepard; and a sister, Florene Price.
Dean was born and reared in Mills County, Texas, the daughter of doting farmer parents. She married Erven in her hometown of Goldthwaite in a union that lasted 70 years.
The mother of four, grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of seven, she, while rearing her family, found time to use her considerable business talent and her outgoing personality to found and operate a newcomer greeting service, Western Welcomes, in Big Spring during the 1960s, where she befriended many young Air Force wives, and others new to Big Spring.
From early life, Dean loved the church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Grace Sunday School class, where she made many lasting friendships. Her church family was a precious source of love and support during the 11 years of her daughter's illness and subsequent death. She served her church on many committees, from pulpit to hospitality.
A person of high moral character, she strongly believed in justice. There were no gray areas in her life. Everything was either right or wrong. Her spiritual gifts were discernment and compassion, always noticing and doing what she could to meet the life needs of those around her.
Dean is survived by her husband; and three children, Diane Deramus of Midland, David Fisher and wife Kathy of Stanton, and Erven Fisher III of Midland.
The celebration of Dean's life will be at the chapel of the First Baptist Church of Big Spring on May 6, 2017, at 2 p.m.
The Reverends Tim Thornton and Dennis Etheridge will officiate, and interment will eventually be in her family plot in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery in Goldthwaite, Texas. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
