Fred Painter Obituary

Fred Daniel Painter passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on November 3, 2025, in his home in Katy, Texas, surrounded by love. He was born on October 11, 1937, to Ralph and Agnes Painter in Ellijay, Georgia. He enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Josie Hale. On November 15, 1959, Fred and Josie were married, and their love produced three children: Tony, Steven, and Cara. Fred and Josie also became the guardians of their grandson, Chris, which turned out to be a great blessing to all of them.
When Fred's health began to decline in April 2024, he and Josie decided to move and live with their son, Chris, and his wife, Melodie, who lovingly took on the responsibility of being his sole caregivers. Fred was always surrounded by so much joy and love, and Josie never left his side, not even for a moment. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Agnes Painter; two brothers, Austin Panter and Ed Painter; and five sisters, Winnie, Ola, Nell, Jo, and Jean. He was also preceded by his two sons, Tony and Steven Painter, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Painter.
Fred is survived by his loving wife Josie Painter (Houston, TX), one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Melodie Painter (Houston, TX), one daughter and son-in-law, Cara and Frank Wilson, grandchildren Dusty, Daniel, Kyle, and Duncan (Big Spring, TX), and Evangelina and Elijah Painter (Houston, TX).
