Jan Whitehead Obituary
Jan was born May 22, 1947, in Big Spring to Claudine and Jessie Brooks. Jan married Ray Whitehead on April 30, 1965, in Midland. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2014. She graduated from Howard College and U.T.P.B, where she earned her bachelor's degree in math and biology. Jan taught seventh grade math for 25 years, retiring in 2008. After retirement, she worked for Big Spring Academy as a tutor. Jan was a member of Spring Creek Fellowship. She was very active in church ministries as lead minister. She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring.
Jan loved her grandkids, camping, and gardening.
Jan is survived by her three children, Kenneth Whitehead and his wife Candi of Big Spring, Jana Prieto and her husband Jeff of Midland, and Danny Whitehead and his wife Kerri of Big Spring; one sister, Linda Berwald of Blythe, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Meagan Sparks, Codey Sparks, Marc Prieto, Krysta Whitehead, Chris Mims, Sassy Farmer, Gage Farmer, Samantha Whitehead, Zach Whitehead, and Kalyn Whitehead; and three great-grandchildren, Bryson Love, Braleigh Sawyer, and Kaizley Sparks.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Brooks.

Jan was the first friend I had in Midland when i came here. I just heard of her passing today, have not been in touch in awhile. My prayers and condolences are with her kids and grandkids I know she was so proud of them all, a believer who I know is with him and also Ray the love of her life. I'll always remember Jan and her friendship to me over the years.
