Judy Pherigo Obituary

Judy Lynn Kiser Pherigo was born April 9th 1949 in Big Spring Texas to Chester and Iva Kiser, the youngest of nine siblings. Judy went to her heavenly home on her 76th birthday, April 9th 2025. Visitation with the family will be Sunday April 13th from 4-6 pm at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Service will be Monday April 14th at 2:30 pm at the Coahoma church of Christ with burial at the Coahoma Cemetery.
Judy met the love her of life Larry Pherigo and they married November 20th 1970 at Coahoma church of Christ. They spent 54 adventurous years together. They traveled all over the U.S. in their motorhome and enjoyed following Coahoma Bulldogette Softball, rarely missing a game.
Judy and Larry welcomed two children Larry Allan and Leah Carol, but nothing could top the birth of their two granddaughters Brylea M'Kell and Brynlea M'Kae. They became her world and she became the best Nonny that two girls could ask for.
Judy graduated from Coahoma High School in 1967 and trained at Medical Arts Hospital in Big Spring becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Judy was well known in her career as a nurse. She worked many years at Malone and Hogan Clinic for several physicians but notably in Pediatrics. In the small town of Coahoma, everyone knew they could call Judy for sound advice. Judy also worked as the Head Start school nurse and finished her career at the Howard County Health Department as the WIC nurse.
After retirement, she was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games on her computer and phone, such as Farmville, Candy Crush, Solitaire and Paint-By-Number. She also enjoyed many years caring for her beloved Pomeranian, Honey Sue. Once the grand girls came along, she never missed any of their events. She was always there to cheer them on in anything they did.
With the loss of her son, Allan in 1989, she became involved in Compassionate Friends, an organization specializing in helping those who have lost a child. She volunteered and counseled many other grieving parents and families and gained many long lasting friendships as a result.
Judy was a faithful member of Coahoma church of Christ. She strived to be a Christian example in all she did. She studied her Bible frequently, and knew it from cover to cover. When dementia took hold, she still had her voice and could sing every hymn that was sang in church. She would ask daily if it was "church day."
Judy was preceded in death by her son Larry Allan Pherigo, her parents Chester and Iva Kiser, and her in- law's Truman and Janie Pherigo. We know she was met by a host of siblings, in-law's, nieces, a nephew and great nephews.
She is survived by her husband Larry of Coahoma, daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Brian Gordon of Big Spring, granddaughter Brylea Gordon of Houston, granddaughter Brynlea of Big Spring, her sister Mary Anderson of Big Spring and many nieces, nephews and greats.
The family would like to thank Interim Hospice and her special private caregivers Yolanda, Anissa and Maria.
Memorial donations can be made to Coahoma church of Christ 311 N. 2nd Coahoma, TX 79511.

I am truly saddened to hear of Judy's passing. I have enjoyed visiting with Judy and Larry over the past 20 years as we shared our geocaching adventures. Condolences to her family and friends. She will be missed.
