Daniel Lewis Williams
BILLINGS - Daniel Lewis Williams, age 79, of Billings, passed away peacefully surrounded by his adoring wife and daughters on January 10, 2023 at his home in Breitbrunn, Germany.
Daniel-Lewis was born in Ogden, Utah on March 29, 1943, to Daniel Thomas and Lenore May Williams. He grew up in Billings and graduated from Billings High in 1961. He married Gaye Hicks on November 26, 1969. After he graduated from the University of Utah in 1970, they left for Germany, where he had a successful career as an Opera Singer. He touched many with his beautiful voice.
Although his passion for classical music took him to Europe for the rest of his life, he remained a Montana boy at heart. He loved Billings and never stopped reminiscing about the Big Sky Country. He would often say, "God lives in Montana!"
Daniel-Lewis is survived by his wife Gaye Williams, his daughters Judith Alexis Stecher Williams, Elizabeth Alexandra Kinney and Katherine Gwyneth Williams Olsen. He is also survived by seven beloved grandchildren.
Burial service will be held at Mountview Cemetery on Monday July 17th, at 11am. Arrangements are by Smith's Funeral Chapels.

To the Williams family,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Lewis. His mother was a dear friend of my mother and me for many years. The first time I met Lewis was when his mother, Lenore, asked me to come over to her home as Lewis was visiting and was going to sing for her, and she wanted me to accompany him. I was in my early twenties, and home from BYU for a break. So, my mother and I went over and I quickly realized how wonderful he was and how lucky I was to share that time with him as we all enjoyed his amazing voice and talent! I know his professional accompanists were much better than me, but he was always so kind, appreciative, and so complimentary to me for playing the piano for him. We looked forward to his annual visit home to Billings to be with him and Lenore even if it was just for a little while. He made us feel like we were forever friends. He was a great example of kindness and it seems like he always had a big smile for everyone around him. He will truly be missed. Heaven is now blessed with his wonderful talent and kindness! I had hoped to attend the service here in Billings, but the newspaper article occurred the day after the service, so I am very sorry I missed it. But, I will visit the cemetery and pay my respects to Lewis, who influenced my life in many wonderful ways. I'm so grateful I got to spend a little bit of time playing the piano for him, enjoying his marvelous talent, and watching the joy and deep love of his mother for him as he sang for her. I also got to accompany him when he sang at church some times. It truly was an honor to be a small part of that. Your family is lovely and I hope that with time, sadness of loss will turn to cherished, treasured memories. We're grateful to know that "Families are Forever". With sincere sympathy and deepest condolences to all in your family. Lorraine Ware, Billings MT.
