David "Squeaky" Winfrey went to be with his maker on Jan. 9, 2015. He was born Nov. 13, 1939, to Harry and Edith Winfrey. His friends knew him as "Squeaky" because of his high voice. You never questioned were you stood with Dave because he didn't call a spade a spade, he called it a "f-ing shovel." He graduated from Shepherd High in 1958, and worked on the family farm until it was time for him to spread his wings, and spread them he did! Dave raised and raced greyhounds from '58-'62. He started in the Carpenters Union in '63. His forte was dams. Yellowtail Dam, Boundry Dam in Washington, John Day Dam in Oregon, Dworshk Dam in Idaho, and Lower Granite Dam in Idaho. David was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy. He was survived by his older sister Harriette, and younger brother Bruce, two sons, HD (Lori) and Kody, and grandchildren Kyah, Serenity, and Jonathan.
Services will be Thursday, Jan. 15, at Smith's Funeral Chapel downtown at 2 p.m.
David worked construction as a carpenter and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. David didn't attend church regularly, but found his spiritual connection in his children and grandchildren. David enjoyed a cold can of Budweiser and hoped everyone will raise a glass to him. Special thanks to everyone at Billings Clinic, especially Dr. Spike and Bailey. You're number one!
