Elizabeth LaForge Obituary
CROW AGENCY - Elizabeth LaForge, 78, of Lodge Grass passed away Friday evening Oct. 31,2003 in the Crow Agency IHS Hospital.
Linda Lee, as her family and friends knew her, was born in Lodge Grass on Nov.4, 1924, a daughter of Francis LaForge and Beth Iron Horse. She was raised in the Lodge Grass area and received her education in Lodge Grass and the Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota. She was a member of the Ties the Bundle Clan and a child of the Greasy Mouth Clan.
Linda Lee was a humble lady. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, auntie and sister. She never had a cross word for anyone. A quiet and reserved person, Linda Lee was also known to possess a warm sense of humor. She had unconditional love for family, especially her nieces, nephews and grandnieces whom she raised.
She was noted for her beading ability. In keeping with Crow Tradition, she outfitted her daughters-in-law with beaded buckskin dresses, leggings and belts, as well as practicing Crow Cultural traditions. She enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and relatives, but particularly enjoyed watching nephews play basketball. Her faith in God was immeasurable and she professed it wherever she traveled.
Her parents; brother, Ben; sister, Emma; son, Evan; and daughter, Donna Mae preceded Linda Lee in death. Linda Lee is now with those she missed dearly for so long. She leaves us with a legacy of love.
Survivors include her daughter, Denise Bear Ground of Billings; nieces whom she raised, Myrna Small of Lame Deer, Regina Bends, Susan White Shirt and Ellie Rides Horse of Lodge Grass, Mary Castro and Linda Arlene Bird in Ground of Wyola, Kathy Bird in Ground of Garyowen, and Anita Little Bird of Ashland; her sisters, Josephine Brien and Mary Black Eagle of Lodge Grass, Sarah Sings Good and Martha Beaumont of Pryor, Angela Stewart of Wyola, Alice Mae LaForge and Teresa Gun Shows of Crow Agency, Regina Goes Ahead of Black Lodge and Delma Yarlott of Hardin; her brothers, Buckley and Henry Pretty on Top, Cedric Walks Over Ice and Billy Stewart of Lodge Grass; her nephew, Allison Bouyer of Crow Agency. A special place will always be reserved in Linda Lee¹s heart of her grandnieces, Quinlyn Little Owl and Marita LaRance.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, in the Lodge Grass First Crow Indian Baptist church. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery.
