Elizabeth Sorensen Obituary

Elizabeth Frances (Roberts) Sorensen passed away on September 21, 2025, in Billings, Montana, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 64 years old. On that day, a shining star joined the heavens, honoring the strength and spirit she carried throughout her life.

Born on June 20, 1961, in Great Falls, Montana, Elizabeth was the daughter of Frances Galt Roberts and Warren Roberts. She spent her childhood in Great Falls and graduated from CM Russell High School in 1979. During her school years, she was active and engaged, competing in track and field, playing the flute, and serving as Honored Queen in her Job's Daughters organization.

After graduating from high school, she attended Eastern Montana College in Billings and studied business. She then began her 42 year career at First Interstate Bank in Billings. She worked primarily in the investment/wealth management department as a Portfolio Manager and was still employed at the time of her death. Elizabeth married Martin J. Sorensen in Great Falls on May 24, 1986, and together they made their home in Billings. She is survived by her loving husband, Marty, and leaves behind a legacy of devotion and care. Elizabeth was a wonderful mother to her daughter Amanda Sorensen Mauws (Neil) of Great Falls, and a proud, doting grandmother to James, Dominic, and Elijah Mauws. She was a cherished sister to Nancy Roberts Hughes (Tom) of Helena and Lynn Roberts Maiorca (Tony) of Vancouver, Washington, and a close aunt to Kara Hughes Grandy (Ross and Karsyn) of Helena. She also shared a special bond with her sister-in-law Kim Sorensen Todd (John) of Willow Creek, Montana. Elizabeth deeply valued the bond she shared with her many cousins, who brought lasting joy and connection to her life.

A proud Montana State Bobcat fan and loyal companion to her beloved dog Rowdy, she lived with spirit and heart. Never one to sit still; Elizabeth was a true go-getter who embraced each day with energy and purpose. Whether relaxing at Swan Lake, casting a line, heading out on a hunt, or delighting in time with her grandsons, she was always on the move, creating memories and savoring every moment. Her vibrant presence will be profoundly missed by her family each and every day.

A memorial service to honor Elizabeth's life will be held at a future date and announced publicly. Cremation services are being provided by Smith Funeral Chapel in Billings.

Martin "Bud" was a gentleman that I looked up to as a young kid. I was friends with Bud's sister in law Dorothy. Sorry for your loss Marty.
