Bob passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT.
F.W. "Bob" was born on April 6, 1915 on the family farm near Angela, Montana in Rosebud County, the son of Fred W. and Minnie (Behnke) Dahlman. He attended country school in Angela through the 8th grade and later worked on farms in the surrounding area. At the age of 20 years, he moved to Baker, where he continued to do farm work and also helped his brother, Ivan, farm.
He married Irene Pitsor in 1937 and they had one son, Bruce. Together Bob and Irene also raised Bob's nieces Sharon and Dorothy from a young age. Bob continued to farm in the summers with his brother, Ivan, and helped his brother-in-law, Leif Holmlund, at the furniture store in Baker during the winters. Bob helped Leif build a motel in Baker. He purchased that motel, adding more units, to become the Dahlman Motel from 1943 to 1955. Bob started a Chevrolet dealership in Baker, known as D & A Chevrolet, with a partner, Gary Agler, in 1961. He bought out Gary in 1968. Bob's wife, Irene, died in 1970. At that time they were helping to raise Sharon's son, Steve Baldwin. Steve continued to live with Bob throughout his school days and a lifelong bond was formed.
Bob married Rosemarie Cameron in 1977. Together they worked at D & A Chevrolet until retiring in 1985. Rosemarie and Bob enjoyed many years together traveling. In his later years, Bob lived with Sharon, and Steve and Tami, for two years before becoming a resident of the FMC Nursing Home in 2013.
Bob was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Baker. He enjoyed playing the banjo, mandolin, card games, especially cribbage, and spending time with his family and friends. Bob was an avid sports fan and spent many years providing transportation for their children and other team players to their various sporting events. Bob was a very good father to Bruce, Sharon, Dorothy (Pete), and Steve. He would always listen if they needed to tell him something. Bob was honest and fair, and always tried to help them reason out their problems. He had a personal code of honor that surpassed all the "Rules and Regulations". Bob always had a good word to say about everyone he met in life, he will always be remembered for his kindness and fairness to all.
