Gale L. Rukstad

October 11, 1952 - October 2, 2025

Gale was born on October 11, 1952, he was the second son of Mary Porter and Harry Rukstad. He joined his older brother, Harry, and was later followed by Marty, Bruce, and Craig, completing the family. The Rukstad brothers shared a deep bond and always had each other's backs.

Gale attended Laurel Elementary, Garfield, Elysian, Riverside, and West High School. At the age of 18, he was diagnosed with lymphoma/leukemia. He was cured either by a single treatment of Mustargen or by the healing touch of Rev. Mosley from the Full Gospel Revival Tabernacle.

Gale married Judy Lennick, and together they were blessed with two daughters, Jamie and Jennifer. They were later divorced.

Gale met Carolyn Adkins when he stopped in at Sassy Scissors for a haircut. They were married in 1993.

He was a hardworking man, including positions at Wonderland, Bair's Gas Station, Don's Custom Upholstery, Quality Concrete, Empire Sand & Gravel, Knife River, and Riverside Sand and Gravel. His craftsmanship is visible throughout the community in the stamped concrete at the mall, superintendent to rebuild Montana Avenue, Airport roundabout, intersection at 20th and King, and most Shilo roundabouts – many businesses and MILES of curb everywhere…

Gale had a great sense of humor, was fiercely protective of loved ones, passionate about NASCAR and jeopardy, an avid reader of history, biography, and the newspaper. He also enjoyed boating and motorcycles.

Gale is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Jamie (Cody) Wagner and Jennifer (Jay) Edmunds, Jason Adkins, Tammy (Toby) Kline; brothers, Harry (Bev), Marty (Patty), and Bruce (Diana); and grandchildren, Aubriana, Ethan, Tom, Jake, Leila, Emerson, and Katie. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded by in death by his parents, his brother, Craig Rukstad, and son, Rolin Adkins.

Gale's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His strength, humor, and dedication to family will never be forgotten.

Services will be at Smith Funeral Chapel West on October 25th at 11 a.m., Reception to follow at American Legion 1540 Broadwater Ave.
