Glenn "Buck" Lardy

Glenn "Buck" Lardy, 78, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Feb. 18, 2012, with his wife and family by his side.

Buck, the youngest of four children, was born to Louis and Gladys Lardy on May 5, 1933 in Glendive. He graduated from high school and attended college in Glendive. On June 25, 1954, Buck married his high school sweetheart, Grace Schultz, with whom he would spend the rest of his life. Their life together brought two children, Laurel and Curtis, of whom he was always proud.

Buck worked as a firefighter for the City of Glendive for 21 years before retiring early due to an injury. In addition to being a firefighter, he dabbled at times in aircraft mechanics, electronics, the vending business, rental properties, and with the Dutch Mill restaurant in Sidney, which he owned and ran for several years in the late '70s. When he wasn't working, Buck loved spending time in his shop with his word working projects and fixing anything mechanical that came his way.

Buck was a man of faith and a proud member of the Lutheran Church, first at Our Savior Lutheran in Glendive, where he was confirmed, and then at Mount Olive Lutheran in Billings.

Buck was a gracious and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared a smile and his sense of humor with friends and strangers alike. In his latter years, his great-grandchildren were the newest lights of his life.

Buck is survived by his wife, Grace, of Billings; his two siblings, Lois Kurtz of Glendive and Neil (Dorothy) Lardy of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; his two children, Laurel (Don) Stricker of Billings and Curtis Lardy (Liz Alarid) of Santa Fe, N.M.; his four grandchildren, Jeremy (Megan) Stricker and Amanda (Philip) Agyeman-Budu, all of Billings, and Zachary Lardy (fiancée Laura Ramacciotti and daughters Julieann and Rebekah) and Malary Lardy, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; four great-grandchildren, Makaiya and Emberlyn Agyeman-Budu and Jackson and Bennett Stricker, all of Billings; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Adams, and his great-granddaughter Adelaide Grace Stricker.

Funeral services will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be sent to Mount Olive Lutheran Church.
