Hans Renner Obituary

WORLAND, Wyo. - Hans Hoover Renner, 86, passed away Jan. 6, 2004, at the Washakie County Memorial Hospital from complications after surgery.

Hoover was born in Fenton, Wyo., on Oct. 11, 1917, to George and Kristensa (Nielsen) Renner, the eighth of 11 children. He attended elementary school in Fenton and was a member of the graduating class at Worland High School in 1936.

He and Wilma Allen were married in Basin on Oct. 9, 1939, and shortly thereafter they moved to the Renner family ranch on the Greybull River near Burlington. He managed the ranch for many years, raising farm crops and livestock and became the sole owner in 1952. He and Wilma raised their family on the ranch and enjoyed the lifestyle for many years.

After moving to Worland in 1972, he continuing the ranching and farming business, loving his work and lifestyle and never really retired. In addition, he worked as a member of the board of directors of Stockgrowers' State Bank from 1972 until he retired in March of 2000.

Hoover was involved in many agriculture-related organizations, including the Wyoming Stockgrowers' Association, the National Stockgrowers' Association, the Wyoming Wool Growers' Association, the National Wool Growers' Association and the Wyoming Farm Bureau. He served on the Predator Control Board and the Washakie County Republican Committee. Hoover was an active member of the community and participated in many ways through his lifetime membership at the Elks and as a Shriner.

While raising livestock was Hoover's profession, he considered it his major hobby. He thoroughly enjoyed the many sightseeing trips he and Wilma shared, and he looked forward to spending time with family.

Hoover was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; son, Nielsen Hoover; great-grandson, Andrew James Middleton; brothers, Clifton, Bill and Everett, and sisters, Daisy Love, Etta Hillberry, Carsie Peterson, Georgie Hillberry and Virginia LeMaster. He is survived by his brothers, Marion Renner of Livingston, Mont., and Thomas A. "Tuff" Renner of Meeteetse; four daughters, Kristy Clark of Colleyville, Texas, Beverley (Bob) Williams of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Karene (Ron) Smith of Rock Springs and Joan (Stanley) Skinner of Worland; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1500 Circle Road, Worland, with the Rev. "Bud" Searles presiding. Graveside services will take place at the Meeteetse Cemetery at noon Monday. Veile Mortuary of Worland is in charge of arrangements.
