Helen Dixon Aarstad, 80, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at her home in Billings.
Helen was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Lusk, Wyo. Her parents were Robert and Helen Dixon. She grew up rodeoing and working on the family ranch. Helen graduated from Newcastle High School and attended the University of Wyoming.
In 1960 she was married to Chuck Larsen and they had three children. They ranched in Wyoming and later, in Montana. They later divorced.
In 1993 Helen married Gene Aarstad. Gene passed away in 2001. Helen and Gene enjoyed riding their horses in the Beartooths.
Helen retired as curator of the Anna Miller Museum in Newcastle, Wyo. Bored with retirement, Helen later worked as a home health care aid as well as volunteering at her church and at grade schools.
Helen is survived by her three children, Loren (Debbie) Larsen, Bruce (Cindy) Larsen and Carol Schoening; four grandchildren, Virginia, Shelby, Charlie and Sydney; brother, Clayton (Donna) Dixon; and two nephews, Tom and Ken.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Cremation & Funeral Gallery Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m.
