James "Jim" Henry Huether
September 16, 1951 - November 29, 2025
James "Jim" Henry Huether passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at his home in Wibaux, Mont., with his wife by his side.
Jim was born on September 16, 1951, in Miles City, Mont., to Delores (Entzel) Huether and Henry Huether. He attended Hillside Country School for eight years and later graduated from Baker High School in 1970. Jim worked for Pinnow Employment as a mechanic before moving on to Moline Trucking and Farmers Union. Later, he began custom swathing and custom hauling cattle and hay-work he loved. He also worked as a ring man for Northwest Auctions, a role he greatly enjoyed. In addition, Jim farmed, served as a fireman for five years, and was an active member of Jaycees for 20 years. Jim married Edith Cale on September 6, 2008 in Wibaux, Mont. He was known for his good-natured teasing-he loved to pick on people and expected them to give it right back. He collected Henry rifles and handguns, though he never shot them. In 2023, Jim and Edith went to Rice Lake, Wisc., home of the Henry Rifle, one of his most fond memories and often looked forward to going back. He also enjoyed attending gun shows and was a promoter of the Glendive Gun Show. Jim is survived by his wife, Edith Huether; his brother, Ernie (Karel) Huether of Glendive, Mont.; his sisters, Shirley (John) Emge of Chandler, Ariz. and Donna (Greg) Jevne of Warroad, Minn.; two step-children; five step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delores and Henry; his brother, Donald; his sister, Linda; one step-son; and one step-grandson.
