Kathleen Mary Hennings

September 8, 1965 - September 19, 2025

Kathleen Mary Hennings of Billings was radiant, kind and gentle. She was a giver, not a taker, and she used every ounce of her heart to show loved ones just how much they mattered. She passed away peacefully Sept. 19, 2025 at St. Vincent's Hospital following heart surgery. She had just turned 60.

Kathy was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., and was adopted into the family of Laurence and Marrian Hennings, whom she loved dearly. Her early years were spent in Cody, Wyo. She arrived as a bubbly toddler, announcing to neighbors that she was five years old (when she was closer to three). Her father managed the Woolworth's and after his retirement, the family relocated to Bridger, Mont., where they opened a hardware store. Kathy graduated Bridger High in 1983 and moved to Billings. She attended cosmetology school and became a stylist, then a manager of McDonald's stores and convenience shops. Later, she worked in hospitality and call centers. She brightened every space that she graced.

She loved her garden and tending to flowers, strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers. She delighted in seeing bunnies and squirrels or just heading up to the Rims to watch airplanes or downtown to count the train cars clattering by.

Above all, Kathy cherished her daughter and proudly strived to be the wind beneath Jenna's wings. Kathy was preceded in death by her birth and adoptive parents. She is survived by daughter, Jenna; fiancé, Rod Wilm; and siblings, Deborah Phillips, David Hennings, Steven Hennings and Pamela Marsh.

A celebration of Kathy's life is planned for spring.
