Margie R. Johnson was born on Aug. 20, 1948, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy Homelvig Johnson. Margie attended rural country school and then Bowman High School, where she graduated in 1966. After high school, she then attended Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D. On Oct. 10, 1969, Margie was united in marriage to Nikki Strom. After their marriage, they made their home in Rhame and raised their two boys, Toby and Alex. Margie and the boys later moved to Billings. While in Billings, she met John Gountainis. Margie then moved to Parker, Colo., for a few years until returning to Billings.
Margie was a kind and gentle lady. She and John loved to travel and they have traveled all over the world. She loved to quilt in her free time, enjoyed bird watching, and exploring genealogy. She was also very proud that later in life, she returned to college to receive her degree and graduated with a 4.0 grade point average. She always had a passion for learning from books or travels. Most of all though, Margie loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Margie is survived by her companion, John Gountainis of Billings, and his family, her sons; Toby (Julie) Strom and their children, Jackson, Lily, Carter and Olivia, Alex (Tracey) Strom and their children, Jared, Caitlynn, Addison and Logan, brothers; Merle (Bettyna) Johnson and Roger Johnson, several nieces nephews and cousins.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; Elmer and Dorothy Johnson.
