Marvin Stanley Obituary

Marvin Lesley Stanley passed away on Feb. 19, 2009. He was born Aug. 23, 1930, in Sheridan, Wyo., to Jack and Irene Sollars-Stanley.

He spent most of his life in Billings, Mont., and surrounding areas. He moved to Shepherd, Mont., where he resided the last years of his life with his beloved wife, Bonnie Jo.

Marvin served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, was a Navy wrestler and Golden Gloves boxer.

In 1967 he became a member of the Teamsters Union where he held the offices of president and secretary treasurer. Marvin was dedicated to organizing and strengthening the union for all workers. He retired from the Teamsters Un ion Local 190 in 1989.

Marvin is survived by his brother, Jean Stanley; his two sisters Doris Barker and Penny Best.

He leaves behind his children Bobbie Norton, Brad, Brian, Shelly, Debbie, Kathy, Steve, Marvel Brey, Karen and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jo, his mother and father, his sister Irma Harris and daughter Paula Gentry.

Over the years Marvin touched many lives and will be remembered by all. "Hey pard, I didn't come here and I ain't a leavin."

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Smith West Chapel, 304 334th St. W. Cremation will follow services.

Viewing will be Tuesday 5 - 9 p.m. at the West Chapel and prior to services on Wednesday.
