Michael Altmayer Obituary

ROSARITO, Mexico - Michael Joseph Altmayer, age 48, passed away of a heart attack on Dec. 24, 2011, in Rosarito, Mexico.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Mike and his family moved to Billings, Montana in 1977 where he attended Lewis & Clark Jr. High and Billings West High School (AKA "Biggin" by his buddies) graduating in 1981. Mike served in the Navy from 1984 to 1987 and worked in the navigation room on the USS Midway. Mike loved the outdoors; the sun and ocean were where he felt best. He was always happy when he was fishing or bird hunting, especially with his dad or sitting at the table eating his mom's chicken paprikash or anything else she cooked. At 6 feet, 5 inches, he stood out in a crowd and his friendliness and sense of humor were what everyone loved and remembered. Mike's home was in many places - Ohio, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, California and Mexico - and he had family and friends in all of them; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his father, Joe Altmayer of Doylestown, Ohio; mother, Vicki Novak (Jim Sevores) of Missoula, Mont./Boise, Idaho; sisters, Christine Altmayer (Scott Smith) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Andrea Altmayer (Shelia Robertson) of Boise, Idaho; and nephew Bridger Josef Altmayer of Boise, Idaho; also, aunts, uncles and cousins in Ohio, Florida and Arizona.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2216 Grand Ave., in Billings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Disabled Veterans or a charity close to your heart.
