Stephen Glenn Hamilton was called home by his Lord and Savior on Dec. 20, 2018 at the age of 63, at Billings Clinic. He was born in Corona, California, on Aug. 22, 1955 to Don and Ruth Hamilton. His siblings and spouses are Mark (Ann) Hamilton, Drew (Vicki) Hamilton, and Carol (Chris-deceased) Matthews.
He met and married his childhood sweetheart Judy Ann Eades (Judy Annie) on Jan. 10, 1976 in Burbank, California, had two children Chelsea and Caleb, and they were blessed with just short of 43 years of marriage! My Steve was the best friend and soul mate I could have ever prayed for. In Jan. 1994 Steve, Judy, Chelsea and Caleb moved to Billings for work and Steve wanted to raise his kids into the West, as he had lived in Texas for a few years as a teen and loved it!
Steve graduated in 1978 from Cal State Northridge in California with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He worked at USC for 7 years in the graphics department, then another 11 years at Grace Community Church in California as the head of the communications department. It was there that he taught himself graphics on the computer. While Steve worked at Grace he volunteered to teach Sunday School and speak at kids' camps as a volunteer. His love of kids has always been the heart of Steve; as he often said 'I am the biggest kid in my programs!' Steve then moved to work at Rim Advertising in Billings, the Billings Gazette for many years and also worked part-time as well for Pastor Sam Summers at Faith E Church as the Children's Director for 10 years. Steve pursued getting his Masters of Ministry from Pacific Evangelical School of Ministry and then came on full-time at Faith E Church as the Children's Pastor for another 10 years. Steve was ordained and licensed through the ECNA. In 2017 my 'HAM' retired from Faith E Church. Still desiring to minister to others he became a Billings Clinic PALS for the last year of his life. He loved people so passionately and serving his Lord. Steve went to Israel twice, and was set to go again in April with Faith Chapel, he always wanted to learn a little more. He absolutely loved creation, dinosaurs, biblical archaeology in any form, and God's Word. Steve also treasured his 22 years singing with the 'Faith E Men of Faith Quartet', some of our best friends for life. In retirement, Steve became a 'Billings Police Chaplain' and a new ministry was born in his heart! He loved those guys, the people of Billings, the Billings Police Department and once again he ministered to others in need. He also wrote a children's book, yet unpublished, 'Zoëy's Beautiful Word Squearch' in honor of his little granddaughter Klobug. My Steve absolutely adored his grand kids, loved babysitting, going to the park, playing and Christmas day trips, just for fun! Steve sang in the 'Gospel Love' choir as a teen, sang solos at many weddings, funerals and programs, played football through college, pitched fastpitch baseball for years as an adult, a fierce pickleball opponent, and loved to fish the Yellowstone River. Our lives have been left with a Steve-sized hole as Pastor Marvin P. said, and yet this guy wrote on each of our hearts in such profound ways that his family is eternally grateful for. Steve accepted Christ at 5 years old at the foot of his bed with his parents by his side. Heaven is certainly richer and I am just guessing that wherever my Ham is in his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, he is with the kids!
Stephen was preceded in death by his grandparents Benjamin (Alto) Fraser, Howard (Marie) Hamilton; father Don Hamilton; brother in-law Chris Matthews, and two unborn children. He is survived by his wife Judy Hamilton; children and their spouses Chelsea (Donald) Pierce, Caleb (Sarah) Hamilton; grandchildren Kloey, Klara and Briggs Hamilton; brother- and sister-in-laws Mark (Ann) Hamilton, Drew (Vicki) Hamilton, Carol Matthews, Mike (Laura) Eades, Sharon (Jeff) Otstot; and nieces and nephews Andrew, Micah, Jeremy, Christopher, Joshua, Rachel and Rebecca Hamilton, Cadence, Tobias, Ruth and Anastasia Matthews, Christopher Eades, Patricia Csanyi, Jesse, Jennie, Dan, Sarah and Christina Ford, Nathan, Elayne and Dustin Otstot, and grand doggies Daisy, Blaze and Gabby.
