Steve Berg Obituary

Steven Keith Berg, known to friends and family as "Steve," passed away on February 10, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado, at the age of 75. He was born on November 11, 1950, in Billings, Montana, to Marvin and Marie Berg.

Steve grew up on the family ranch in Lennep, Montana, where he developed a profound love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He graduated from Harlowton High School in 1969. In 1970, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving with honor in the 11th Armored Cavalry during the Vietnam War. For his exemplary service as a tank loader in Troop C of the Regiment's 1st Squadron, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.

In 1975, Steve married the love of his life, Gail Meyers. Following his military service, he honed his skills as a talented carpenter, dedicating many years to the craft. Steve retired from Hulteng Construction in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of skilled workmanship.

He is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Marvin and Marie Berg, and his brother-in-law, John Mysse. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Berg; his sister, Myrna Mysse; his brother, Greg Berg (Cindy); and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Lennep, Montana. Cremation services have been entrusted to All Veterans Burial.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of Steve's caregivers over the past 13 years for their compassion and dedication.

As we remember Steve, we take comfort in the words of Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake."

We find solace in knowing that Steve was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, where he now rests in peace. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.

I knew Steve from Neuro Restorative in Littleton,Colorado. My husband is a resident there and I had the pleasure of meeting Steve. I had some of the best conversations with Steve over the ranch and ranch horses he had. I did have the opportunity to meet his wife Gail one time. Rest in peace my friend. Gale, please accept the condolences of the Troopers of the 11th Armored Cavalry's veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. Steve was a dedicated and hard-charging warrior, one of us, one of our own. He served courageously with the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment in C Troop (1970) and will be remembered as an honorable trooper whose very presence brought comfort and support to his fellow troopers. His name will be included on the Honor Roll of our combat veterans and may all generations call him blessed as he was willing in the spirit of America to sacrifice and take up arms to protect and care for his fellow man. His service in Vietnam highlighted his bravery and valor and was guided with a Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. As grateful Americans we should all pause and salute a man who was willing to put his life on the line for his country. As our burial liturgy states: " ... his life has not ended, merely changed ..." and as we were together then in Vietnam, we will be together again in the life hereafter, warmly embraced in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
