Walt Gaschk, 83, peacefully passed away on June 2, 2019, surrounded by family members at St. Peter's Medical Center in Helena after a long struggle with cancer.
Walt was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Paul and Olga Gaschk. Walt lived and traveled throughout the Midwest for Foremost Dairies, Groves Kelco Inc., Supervalu and was also an Independent Sales Rep. He enjoyed fishing, music, playing his guitar and truly loved taking day trips with his wife Ginney. Walt had a heart of gold, especially when it came to animals. He was loved and respected by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Walt was formerly married to Lee Gaschk of Billings, and is survived by their children: Vicki Gaschk, Kevin (Sandy) Gaschk, and Paul Gaschk all of Billings. Walt is also survived by his wife of 41 years, Ginney Gaschk of Helena; children Troy (Sherri) Nelson, of Chandler, Arizona, Tammy Chandler, of Billings, and Kim Nelson (Bob Codden) of Chicago, Illinois; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Gaschk; and son, Randy Gaschk.
Walt will be joining his father and brother to take his final fishing trip on June 11, 2019. Family, friends and acquaintances are invited to a casual gathering and luncheon for a celebration of his life, at the Hannaford Street Bible Church, 830 N. Hannaford St., at 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Peter's Cancer Treatment Center c/o St. Peter's Hospital, 2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601.
