William "Bill" A. Lentsch, age 67, passed away on Nov. 5, 2016, peacefully in his home after a short, but well-fought, bout with cancer.
Bill was born in Forsyth, to Art Lentsch and Lois Lentsch Makin on Oct. 12, 1949. He graduated from Forsyth High School in 1967.
He worked at several jobs during his lifetime including laying railroad track at Colstrip, worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad, worked construction in and around Colstrip, was one of Forsyth's best bartenders in several locations, and worked construction for COP Construction in Billings.
Bill married Sandra O'Karche Lampman, known to all as Karche, in 1964, and was the proud father of Eric, born in 1976. He was a happy father, husband, brother, and son, and cared deeply for his family and the area around Rosebud County that he called home.
Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman, and never wearied of traveling the North Side with his buddy, Gerry Schaefer, searching for the next best hunting spot and simply enjoying each other's company and the wide open spaces. He fished the Yellowstone River and many Montana lakes and streams with a fervor and eagerly hunted antelope, deer, and elk every chance he got. He passed this love for the great outdoors to his son and brothers. He was well known for his hearty laugh and love of a good time.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Lois, his father-in law, Graham Makin, and his wife, Karche. He is survived by his son, Eric (St. George, Utah), his brothers, Doug and Judy Lentsch (Laurel), and Marc Lentsch and his love, Jennie (Billings), and a host of other family and dear friends. He was a simply a "good man and worthy to ride the river with" and will be deeply missed.
Cremation has taken place and plans are to spread his ashes in his favorite hunting and fishing places.
