Patricia Carbonie Obituary

Patricia "Tricia" K. Carbonie
6/10/1952 - 9/12/2023
Tricia Carbonie passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, September 12th, at her home in Birmingham, Alabama surrounded by her loving family. Tricia was born on June 10th, 1952, to Bill and Anna Kirkland in Birmingham, Alabama.
Tricia was a dedicated, devoted, and loving woman, wife, mom, grandmother, sister, friend, and educator. She spent her life caring for others including of course her family and friends, but also the countless young people that came through her classroom where she shared that same love and care for others that makes her so special. Tricia's 35-year career as a preschool teacher at Our Lady of The Valley Catholic School was not a job but instead her life's passion, and the impact she had on her students, families, etc. is immense. Tricia was a wonderful human and will be remembered by all who loved her for her thoughtful, caring and kind nature. She will be missed by many, but with pride and love her family knows that on September 12th God called home to heaven a great Angel in Tricia.
Tricia is preceded in death by her mother, Anna Kirkland, her father Bill Kirkland, and brothers, Bill, Johnny, Mark, and Eric. She is survived by her dear husband of 51 years, Charles Carbonie, and her four children, Jason Carbonie, Michelle Carbonie Miller (David), Joey Carbonie and Maddie Carbonie and five grandchildren, Connor, Caleb, Makenzie, Morgan, and Joey Michael. She is also survived by her sisters Jeannie Andrews and Adelheid Caldwell.

Visitation will be held at 8:00am on Saturday, September 16th at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Birmingham, Alabama followed by a service at 10:00am and a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Tricia's giving nature by donation to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church

To the family and friends of Mrs. Carbonie, (our Angel amongst us)

Please know that we will NEVER forget your wife, your mother, your grandmother, your sister, your friend, your teacher! She was a friend indeed, and from the moment we met Mrs. Carbonie, my sister and I experienced something bigger than just a teacher at OLV. Oh yes, we were given a taste of her intrinsic sweetness which radiated from within the depths of her soul! No doubt about it! She was truly OUR Angel amongs us! Rest in Peace Mrs. Carbonie! We will certainly take it from here and help pay it forward with the same sweetness you gave us!! We will always love you!

My heart goes out to you Charles and to your family. I know you all will miss her so much. Trish was such a loving and caring person with a heart of gold. She always put others before herself. Her family was everything to her. She loved her preschool kiddos and touched the lives of so many. May God hold you and your family in his arms to get you through this most difficult time and be able to cherish the precious memories she gave her family.

I will miss her deeply but cherish the memories we had.
