We are saddened by the death of Stanley Bynum. I first got to know Stanley when he was mayor of the Indian Springs student body in my early days as an underclassman. He was a straight arrow and an Eagle Scout and displayed prodigious intellectual powers and achievement at Princeton and University of Alabama law School. He became a first rate attorney. But he always displayed a gentle, friendly, Jimmy Stewart-like demeanor. To have suffered a stroke before reaching his prime was a continuing tragedy. Despite some disabilities, he continued to labor on in his career for year after year. His wife, Lucie, is an amazing person with a saintly devotion who stuck by him. Beth and my prayers and sympathies are with Lucie and the Bynum family. He was an inspiration to us all. He will be missed.

Sending my love and sympathy to dear Lucie and to the entire Bynum family. I will be at the graveside in spirit and not in person on November 10, and will be remembering Stanley for a long time to come. A gift to his Boy Scout troop sounds like a wonderful idea.
