Charles "Eddy" Edward Connell, 87, Bismarck,
died March 30, 1997, Easter morning, in the Mandan
hospital. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at McCabe United Methodist Church,
Bismarck, with the Rev. Peary Wilson officiating.
Eddy was born July 20, 1909, in Eau Claire, Wis.,
to Charles J. and Josephine (Lasseck) Connell. He
grew up in Eau Claire, graduating from high school
and the University of Wisconsin there. He moved to
Bismarck in 1967 and married Anna Marie Anderson
in Las Vegas, in 1968. Eddy's employment began
with teaching history in Eau Claire. He later
managed Eddy's Bakery in Grand Forks, Peoria,
Ill., Minneapolis, and the Bismarck plant until
its closing in 1969. He owned and operated Eddy's
Thrift Bakery in Mobridge, S.D., and later owned
and operated Eddy's lounge in Wilton until 1976.
He founded Eddy's Music Corp. in 1976 and
continued to book bands throughout the upper
midwest until 1995.
Eddy was a lifelong member of the Elks, associate
member of Bismarck Eagles and belonged to the
Federal Musician's Association. He was also a
member of International Toast Masters Association
and was an eloquent speaker, winning numerous
awards.
He thoroughly enjoyed life, family, family
gatherings, music, dancing, people and football
(not in that order). Eddy was a loving, kind and
gentle man who will be greatly missed by family,
friends and all that knew him.
Eddy is survived by his wife, Anna Marie; four
sons and three daughters-in-law, Danial and
Barbara, Eau Claire, Riley and Sandy, Baribou,
Wis., Gail Wanner, Bismarck, and Dale and Anna
Grabinger, Menoken; three daughters and two
sons-in-law, Jeanne and Bruce Cameron, Tampa,
Fla., Judy and Ron Weigum, Bismarck, and JoAnn
Cooper, Bismarck; one brother, James Connell, Eau
Claire; one sister, Mary Connell, Eau Claire; 14
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three
sisters, Lucille Connell, Florence Kruger and
