GOODRICH -- The Rev. Daniel O. Heringer, 79, Goodrich, died July 29, 2000, in his home in Goodrich. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Goodrich, with burial in Goodrich Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.
He was born Nov. 28, 1920, at Lambert, Mont., to Paul and Martha Heringer. He grew up in the Lambert area and graduated from high school there. He graduated in 1944 from St. Paul Bible Institute. He married Janice C. Sime on Feb. 3, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wis., and they were married for 50 years when she died on June 3, 1995.
His ministry included churches in Milwaukee, Cass Lake, Minn., the Fort Belknap Reservation near Harlem, Mont., McLaughlin, S.D., Lehr, Sumner, Iowa, and West Union, Iowa.
In June 1973 they moved to Goodrich and he ministered at the First Baptist Church through September 1983. He continued to live in Goodrich while serving the First Baptist Church in Max and at Beulah Baptist and Washburn Baptist churches. His last full time pastorate was at the Mercer Baptist Church. While serving in Mercer, he conducted the Summer Sunday morning services at Brush Lake, which he continued until his death on July 29, 2000.
He served on numerous denominational boards and committees including the Bismarck Baptist Home. He drove school bus in many of the communities in which he lived and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening and recently making word puzzles based on the Bible.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Earleen and Glenn Miller, Goodrich; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Geri Heringer, Aurora, Ill., Rodger and Barbara Heringer, Ladner, British Columbia, Canada; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Heringer, Lambert; and one sister, Sarah Walker, Hale, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Karen; one brother, Eugene; and two sisters, Selma and Martha.
