Dolores Richardson Obituary
Dolores "Bunny" Richardson, 70, Mandan, died Dec. 16, 2002, in a Bismarck hospital after a bout with cancer. Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a rosary and parish vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Weigel Funeral Home.
Bunny was born Dolores Darlene to Leon and Etta (Baggenstoss) on March 21, 1932, in Granville. The family soon moved to Lansford, where she was raised and educated. Bunny graduated from high school in 1950 and from Minot State Teachers College with an elementary teaching degree in 1952. She married high school sweetheart Floyd Richardson on July 19, 1952. She taught off and on for 13 years at various schools in North Dakota.
Bunny and Floyd, who was also a teacher and a basketball coach, lived in several towns including Minot, Williston, Beach, Beulah, Larimore and Harvey until moving to Mandan in 1973. While caring for her own family there, she loved and nurtured many other babies and toddlers for 15 years. She then worked at Heartview for two years until her mother came to live with them.
Bunny enjoyed crafts and needlework, decorating, camping and reading. But most of all, she enjoyed taking care of kids and grandkids.
Bunny is survived by her husband, Floyd; her six children and their spouses, Kevin Richardson, Kristi and Doug Bohl and Sue and Pat Maddock, all of Mandan, Robin and Craig Zeller, Beulah, and Keith and Debbie Richardson and Todd and Melissa Richardson, all of Rockfield, Ky.; her grandchildren, Jon, Bryce and Zachary Zeller, Ryan, Kelly and Kim Maddock, Brandon, Sarah, Lindsay, Matthew and Megan Richardson, Steven Richardson, Krystal and Brad Bedwell and Tyler and McKenzie Bohl; her great-grandchildren, Jamison, Isaiah, Angel and Zaria Richardson; her brother and sisters and spouses, Richard and Mona Johnston, Alamosa, Colo., Kathy and Craig Buelow, New Salem, Jill and Alan Ritz, Mandan, and Margie Johnston, Harlingen, Texas; her uncles Art and Elmer Baggenstoss, both of Minot; her aunt, LeeElla Edwards, Minot; and many other friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jerry Johnston, Harlingen, Texas.
