Eileen Ehreth, 86, Mandan, died Oct. 23, 2011, at Medcenter One Mandan Care Center. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Kenneth Phillips as celebrant and the Rev. Marvin Klemmer as concelebrant. Burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Christian Mothers rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by a parish vigil at 7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home.
Eileen was born March 20, 1925, in Selfridge, the daughter of Michael A. and Anna (Bruning) Birrenkott. The family moved to Breien, in 1930, where they owned a general merchandise store. She attended school in Breien and Solen. On July 1, 1946, she married Benedict Ehreth at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck and they made their lifelong home in Mandan. She began working at the First National Bank in Mandan in 1944, then as bookkeeper in Morton County Treasurers Office until 1950. She did searching for Dun and Bradstreet, Inc. and other corporations for 18 years. Her volunteer work was done at Christ the King School mending books, etc. for 11 years and at the Parish Office Rectory for 17 years and the Parish historian for 53 years. She was a Eucharistic minister for 10 years, a charter member of the Christian Mothers and is an Oblate of the Handmaids of Precious Blood Sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Ben; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Linda, Mandan, and Gregg and Pam, Grand Forks; one daughter and son-in-law, Marguerite and Dan Eberle, Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Samuel Ehreth and wife, Dianha Ortega-Ehreth, Jessica Folkens, Sarah Eberle, Ben and wife, RozAnn Ehreth, and Becky and husband, Joe Bailey; three great-grandchildren, Eileen Folkens, Annabel Ehreth and Hunter Bailey; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Kathleen Birrenkott, Bismarck; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jim Rinde, Fargo; and her brother-in-law, Art Rebenitsch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Rebenitsch; and her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Don Koch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Christ the King School.
