Evelyn Faye Heck, née Silk, 81, a resident of Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls, Minn., passed away peacefully in her sleep April 7, 2018, with family by her side.
Born in Ft. Yates, Evelyn graduated from Standing Rock High School and went on to join the United States Navy in 1955, serving her country for two years, and eventually ending her career with 21 years as a long-time employee of Exide Battery/Technologies.
She was a loving mother to four children, Kevyn Heck (Angie Christensen Bowman), Keith Heck (Tammy Ramey), Dawn Heck, and Lezlie Heck-Johnson (Gene Johnson); seven grandchildren, Mick, Maggie Mae, Taylor, Zachary, Jake, Nick, and Luke; and two great-grandchildren, Geno and Theodore.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Conrad Silk; and her parents, Rosalind Buffalo Boy and Charles Silk.
A private family service was held earlier this week at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mill Street Residence and the Pioneer Cottages (Heartland) in Fergus Falls for the outstanding care they provided during Evie's challenge with Alzheimer's. They made her last years enjoyable for her and all of the family.
