Evelyn Zook
Evelyn Mary Zook, 94, Bismarck, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Church of Ascension, Bismarck with Rev. Msgr. Jim Braaten officiating. A Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. with a rosary/prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at DaWise-Perry/Mandan Crematory 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Evelyn was born Feb. 21, 1928, at Polson, Montana, to Nicholas and Beulah (Trollope) Morgen. She was raised and educated in Wibaux. She met Joseph Zook at a local dance. Joseph went to the service and they wrote letters to each other every day. They married July 2, 1947. They resided on the family farm south of Sentinel Butte where she became an immaculate gardener, wonderful cook, and gracious hostess. In 1975 they moved to Beach and Evelyn worked as a cook for the Beach School System and then Home on the Range as the food service director. Evelyn retired in 2000, and she and Joseph moved to Bismarck where they have since resided. Spending time with her family was one of the greatest joys in her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Heard, and Renee (Terry) Barnaby, both of Bismarck; sons, Ron, Beach; Rick (Dawn), Fargo; and Gary (Nancy), Buckeye, Ariz.; sisters, Teresa Crisafulli, Wibaux, Mont.; Vivian Bruski, Helena, Mont.; and Marlene (Leo) Stoltz, Kalispell, Mont.; grandchildren, Tim (Debbie) Heard; Jackie Heard; Brad (Julie) Zook; Jennifer Cohen; Christina (Jason) Brazell; Trina (Keith) Montplaisir; Jason (Shea) Zook; Bobby (Kim Sant) Owens; Scott (Svea) Owens; K'Cee (PJ Silveria) Barnaby; K'Lee (Branden Kroyer) Barnaby; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; sisters, Irene Oswood, Dorothy Bushman, Betty Marciniak, and Sharon Held; grandchild, Jessie Owens, and great-grandchild Evelyn Brazell.
Funeral arrangements are being made with DaWise-Perry/Mandan Crematory, Mandan.
