Helen Rask, 78, Bismarck, retired elementary school teacher, died June 4, 2014, from complications of lung cancer, at her home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation has taken place.
Helen was born June 24, 1935, in Rochester, Minn., and graduated from high school there. She attended Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in primary education. Helen married David Rask on Sept. 15, 1957, in Rochester, Minn. She taught first grade in Rochester, Minn., and Helena, Mont., before moving to Bismarck, where she taught first grade at Pioneer Elementary School for 27 years.
Helen is survived by her husband, David, her daughter, Julie (Shane) Fladeland, and son, Richard (Paula) Rask, all of Bismarck; four grandchildren, Trevor (Casidie) and Wylie Fladeland, and Matthew and Laryssa Rask.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Tayler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Camp Grassick, 833 Grassick Lane, Dawson, N.D., 58428, or a charity of your choice.
