Helen Reich passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2021.
Helen Antonette Reich, nee Campbell, was born at Coalisland, Northern Ireland, UK, Aug. 9, 1927 to John and Mary Jane (nee O'Niel) Campbell. She immigrated to Alberta, Canada with her parents and nine siblings in 1930, and finally settled in the Regina, Saskatchewan area. Helen achieved an RN degree from Grey Nuns Nursing School and went on to do post-graduate work at Johns Hopkins Hospital and University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Helen met John Reich in Bismarck and they married in 1956 at St. Mary's Church, Bismarck. She served her community as a surgical nurse at St. Alexius Hospital until the mid-'60s when she moved to Custer Health, working as a public health nurse for Morton County. Helen retired in 1992 and lived a rich life donating her time, talents, and abilities to many causes, including Nursing Auxiliaries, Catholic Daughters, and many more. She loved to play bridge and pinochle. She was an avid fan of college level football and hockey. She continued to embarrass her sons and son-in-law by winning the family NFL football pool regularly.
Helen is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Randall) Meaux, and her sons, John (Pam) and Luke (Shelly); five grandchildren, Ryan (Jocelyn Kane), Sarah, Bridgit, Sam and Kate; four great-granddaughters, Corenna, Samara, Penelope and Linnea; and a sister, Teresa Howden.
Helen will be interred with her husband, Jack (2003), at the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery in Mandan. A private celebration of Helen's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated in Helen's name to the charity of your choice.
