Joshua James Saunders, 19, Monticello, Minn., died April 19, 2001, following a one-vehicle rollover near Monticello. Services were held April 23 at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Monticello. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Joshua was born Sept. 18, 1981, in LaJolla, Calif., to James and Joyce (Steckler) Saunders. At a young age, he moved with his family to Monticello. He attended Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyo., for one year, studying rebuilding cars and was planning to open his own custom shop after college.

Josh was known for his artistic talents. He loved to draw, paint and airbrush. His artistic abilities showed in the detail painting of the cars he rebuilt.

Josh also had a giving nature. He earned his Eagle Scout badge in 1998. His Eagle Scout project was collecting books for a school library that burned and all of its books were destroyed.

Josh will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
