LeRoy Sorenson
LeRoy B. Sorenson, Hamilton, Mont., went to meet his savior Aug. 12, 2006, at St. Patrick's Hospital, Missoula, from a heart attack.
LeRoy was born at VanHook, March 22, 1921, to Adolph and Clara Sorenson. He attended school and upon graduation, started college at University of Grand Forks. His college was put on hold and he went to serve his country during World War II. After three and a half years he was discharged in December of 1945. He returned to college and graduated as a Civil Engineer. He worked for the North Dakota Highway Department, retiring in 1985, and moved to Hamilton.
On Aug. 11, 1973, he married DeLores M. Stolz in Minnewaukan.
LeRoy was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and a life member of the Veterans of North Dakota.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, DeLores; six children from a former marriage, Eric and Dora Sorenson, Scottsdale, Ariz., Kendal and Donna Sorenson, Bismarck, Patric and Judy Sorenson, Bloomington, Colo., Ann and John Pate, Wadena, Steve and Melinda Sorenson, St. Paul, Minn., and Jean and Rich Kelso, Redland, Calif.; his sister, Fern Todd, Hamilton; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his daughter, Cathy; his son, Kyle; three grandchildren; and his three brothers, Norman, Harold and LaVern.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. MDT Thursday Aug. 17 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Hamilton, with the Rev. Gregory Karlsgodt officiating. The urn will be placed in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
