Martin Becker Obituary

Martin Becker, 87, Mandan, died Feb. 13, 2003, at a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Center Church of God of Prophecy, Bismarck, with the Revs. Jerry Wood and Hank Becker officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. CST at the Beulah City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bismarck Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Martin was born May 10, 1915, north of Zap, N.D., to Carl and Christine (Christman) Becker. He was raised in the Beulah area. He married Annie Weil on July 13, 1937. He worked as a mule skinner at the coal mine. In 1948, they moved to the Bismarck-Mandan area, where he worked as a painter.

Martin enjoyed music and could play many instruments. He was an active member of his church and played gospel music for many services. He also enjoyed fishing. He was a great father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Annie, Mandan; one son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Glenda Becker, Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Arlys and Lenny Kemmet, Bismarck; one daughter-in-law, Donna Becker, Fargo; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Henry, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; four sisters; one son, Lee; and one grandchild.

Martin's sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
