Michael (Mike) Darrel Emmel
BISMARCK - Michael (Mike) Darrel Emmel, 54, of Bismarck went home to be with his heavenly father on June 11, 2022.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Wednesday, June 15th at Gracepoint Church. A sharing of memories will begin at 6:30PM.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday June 16, at Gracepoint Church, 205 43rd Ave NE, Bismarck.
Burial service will be at 4:30 PM, Thursday, June 16, at Rose Hill Cemetery north of Kenmare, ND.
Mike was born on August 9, 1967 to Larry and Virginia Emmel in Kenmare, North Dakota. He grew up on the Emmel Family Farm north of Kenmare until moving to Bismarck for college in 1985.
After moving to Bismarck, Mike met the love of his life, Camey, in the fall of 1985. They were wed on June 16, 1990 in Bismarck. Mike and Camey made their home in Bismarck where they started their family of five children: Cole, Paige, Blake, Brooke, and Isaac.
Mike worked on the family farm through college until embarking on his passion of woodworking, which he picked up working in a small workshop at the family farm. He worked at Klemetson Woodworks for a few years before starting his own business, Interior Woodworks, in 1994. Mike had great joy in bringing his creative thinking to each job he had the opportunity to be a part of and was grateful for all the friendships created along the way.
Mike was an admirable professional and displayed his servant heart at all times. Whether it be in his business, his volunteer time at church and the greater Bismarck community, as board President of Shiloh Christian School, or in his countless friendships; Mike always looked for opportunities to share the gospel, serve others, and improve the lives of those around him.
Most importantly, Mike enjoyed spending time with his family. He very rarely missed out on his children's sporting events from kindergarten all the way to college. Over the last few years, Mike loved to get together as a family at the lake cabin during the summer. It was being surrounded by family that Mike enjoyed most.
Mike was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herb and Tina Emmel, and maternal grandparents, Oscar and Tilla Jensen.
He is survived by his wife Camey; children, Cole Emmel, Paige (Marcus Wagner) Emmel, Blake (Haley) Emmel, Brooke (Jonas Jonson) Emmel, and Isaac Emmel; his parents, Larry and Virginia Emmel, brother, James Emmel; sister, Janelle (Ryan) Welle; niece and nephew Morgan and Austin Welle, and a host of other relatives, family, and friends.

This makes us sad and our hearts are heavy for you as a family. We hope your grief is made better knowing others care, are here for you, and are thinking of you. Mike was a amazing guy and will be missed by many as he left his mark on our community and on many individuals. His hard work ethic and professionalism is on display not only in homes with his cabinetry, but also with the children he raised with Camey. He was special. Our deepest sympathy.

I just read about Mike's passing. He was an amazing man. I worked with him at Klemetson's and he taught me at about woodworking. We watched him and Camey raise their children and on our walks would frequently visit them. Recently, I visited him at his shop and enjoyed a short conversation. He will be dearly missed by this community.

Mike was an amazing man that helped me with the woodwork in my home for many years. Always did creative and beautiful work and left the worksite cleaner than it was when he arrived. I so appreciated that! He was so talented and inspirational. He will definitely be missed by many. He was very proud of his family. I am so sorry for your loss.
