Raymond was born Aug. 13, 1916, at Fairmont, Minn., the son of Herman H. and Lena (Brinkman) Henke. He moved with his family to the Hannover area where he was raised and educated. He married Irene Gierke June 6, 1940. She died July 27, 1993. He married Lilly Hintz April 28, 2000. In addition to farming for many years, Raymond served as the Oliver County Treasurer from 1971 to 1991.

He enjoyed playing cards, particularly pinochle and bridge. He was very active in the church, holding many offices and singing in the St. Peter Church Choir for as long as he was able.

He is survived by his wife, Lilly, Hannover; his son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Correne Henke, Hannover; his stepdaughters, Pamela Hintz, Anchorage, Alaska, and Carla Hintz, Phoenix, Ariz.; and a stepdaughter-in-law, Melissa Hintz, Hannover; his stepsons, Kelly Hintz, and his wife, Judith, Hannover, and Jeffrey Hintz, Chicago; a son-in-law, John Bubel, Center; his sisters, Edna Kaelberer, New Salem, and Bernice Bornemann, and her husband, Bert, Center; two grandchildren, Loren Henke, and his wife, Kristen, and Heidi Henke, Harker Heights, Texas; six stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Breanna, Madeline and Teegan Henke and Joseph Eagle; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

His parents; a stillborn child; and his daughter, Sandra Irene Bubel, who died July 30, 1970; his first wife, Irene; and his stepson, Murray Hintz, who died Dec. 10, 2005, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. Peter's for new hymnals and pew pads. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)
