Robert Erhardt Obituary

Robert Erhardt

Robert "Bob" Erhardt, 61, Mandan, died March 14, 2008, at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. John Mathai as celebrant. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, with military honors provided by the VFW Post 707 and American Legion Post 40.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Bob was born Nov. 21, 1946, in Mandan, the son of George F. and Pauline (Roll) Erhardt. He was raised in the Flasher area and graduated from Flasher High School in 1965. Bob was united in marriage to Doris Krause on Nov. 23, 1968. Bob attended Bismarck State College and graduated from the North Dakota Law Enforcement Academy in 1980. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve and for 26 years with the Morton County Sheriff's Department, with the last four years as sheriff. Bob worked for four years as an investigator with the Metro Area Narcotics Task force and was also on the administrative board, a member of the North Dakota Peace Officers Association, veteran/member of the Flasher American Legion Post 69 and a board member of the Bismarck State College Criminal Justice Program.

A highlight for Bob was to have friends and family together for his annual Christmas party and pheasant dinner. He always enjoyed a good game of pinochle and gathering at the coffee shop. Bob was a terrific dancer and enjoyed dancing to country music at the Lonesome Dove. Most of all, going pheasant hunting with his family and friends was the ultimate for Bob. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, dedication to family and community and a good cup of coffee.

Much loved and a true friend with a ready smile and laugh, Bob will be sadly missed by his friends and family including his mother, Pauline Erhardt, Bismarck; one sister, Lorraine (Ron) Dressler, Bismarck; four brothers, Norm (Bonnie), Flasher, Marvin (Ranette), Mandan, and Clarence and Kevin (Norma), both of Bismarck; his nieces and nephews, Lisa Dressler Manz (Tim Manz), Jason (EmaLee) Dressler, Susan Dressler Kalberer (Jesse Kalberer), Michelle Dressler Johnson (Michael Johnson), Nikki (Corey) Hanson, Dustin Erhardt, RaeLynn Erhardt and Kelli Erhardt; and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, George, in 1981.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

I am so sorry. I know Bob will be missed. I guess I am the only "Bob" left from the class of 65. We had 3.
I still remember him stopping at my dads house in Flasher when he was a deputy and made us stop shooting fireworks.
