Robert Sackman
Robert E. Sackman, 87, went to heaven peacefully on Oct. 22, 2021.
Bob was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Harvey to John and Magdalena (Filler) Sackman. He was raised and educated in Tuttle graduating from Tuttle High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged July 30, 1953.
Bob married Patricia Rhamy in 1958. They resided in the Los Angeles, California area until 1963 when they moved to North Dakota. In 1974 they moved back to Bob's hometown of Tuttle to raise their family. Bob's trade was an insulator and asbestos worker for many years. He spent time in most all the power plants found in North Dakota as well as many schools and large buildings in the Bismarck and surrounding areas.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and just being outside, enjoying nature. He took great pleasure and had a great talent for playing guitar and singing. He especially enjoyed the years he spent traveling around ND teaching other Germans from Russia hymns and songs in their native language, which was Bob's heritage as well.
Bob enjoyed seeing his great-grandchildren whenever he got the opportunity and was always amazed at how quickly they were growing up.
Bob is survived by his children, Scott (Wendy) Sackman, Shelley (Brian) Lubiens, and Bobbie (Rick) Stark; eight grandchildren, Misty Stark, Kayla (Brandon) Fitterer, Eric (Trina) Stark, Mitchell (Maria) Sackman, Michelle Clouse, Luke Sackman, BreAnne (Mason) Kraft, and Andrew Sackman; eight great-grandchildren, Hayden, Madalynn, Camden Fitterer, Noah, Sierra, Isaiah Stark, Bo Clouse, and Weston Kraft; sister, Mavis (Kenneth) Edinger and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was greeted in heaven by Patricia Sackman; their son, David Sackman; his parents; brothers, Emil, Albert, Bert, Jake, Arthur, and John Jr.; sisters, Laura Peterman, Bernice LeMire, Elaine (Kay) Howe and Betty Miller.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at Bismarck Funeral Home. A livestream of the service will be available on the Bismarck Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page.

My heart holds many memories of Uncle Bob!! My earliest memories are of him staying with us when he got out of the military. He bought us our first dog, Lady. I remember when he met Aunt Pat at our church and they were married in our living room. When you kids started to come along my sis and I´d babysit you. Needless to say I was heartbroken when your family moved to ND! But when we´d see you at family reunions and on vacations we always had so much fun with the bigger Sackman clan. I remember Uncle Bob and Uncle John playing music, bottling beer and root beer.
After I married and moved to Colorado we always loved it when Uncle Bob would stop in for a few days and he and Tom would play music and sing together. We especially loved it when he would sing in German and then translate. We´d laugh at his stories and draw out of him as much as we could about his journey, our Mother´s, and the Sackman´s heritage. Uncle Bob leaves a hole in our hearts but I can only imagine the family reunion happening in Heaven. A high old time!
Love you cousins!

For Ronnie & myself, your Dad leaves us with joy memories. I recall how proud he was when the geese he raised would run with him as their leader, it was the best. I also recall how he, my Dad Wilbert & my Uncle Maynard played & sang at Gateway Mall several Saturdays to raise money for Tuttle Jubilee while my Mom Vivian, Doris Landenberger & myself sold Tuttle Jubilee novelties, he left us with many good recipes for deer meat, especially snitzel. May the good memories Shelley, Scott & Bobbie support you & your families through this sad time.

I had the privilege of recording many songs by him when he was a member of the "Harmony Singers". I remember when they drove on icy roads all the way to Jamestown, N D, to play and sing on the Reverend N.E. McCoy´s daily program. They just made it there before the program started. What a wonderful person to know and be friends with!
God bless his soul!
