BEULAH - Ruby Tesky, 89, Beulah, died Sept. 16, 2013, at Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. CDT Saturday, Sept. 21, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Tom Olson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. CDT Friday at Barbot-Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.
Ruby was born May 6, 1924, in Zap, to Rudolf and Rebecca (Knecht) Sailer. She was raised and educated north of Zap at a country school. Ruby spent some time in Iowa, helping raise her niece and also worked at a cafe.
On June 27, 1948, she married Eldor Tesky at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zap. Together, they farmed just east of Hazen, until 1962 when they moved to Hazen. Ruby was a cook at Hazen Public Schools for many years and retired when she was 65. On Dec. 14, 1998, Eldor passed away. Ruby continued to live in her home in Hazen until moving into the Senior Suites in 2009. In June 2010, she moved into Knife River Care Center, where she had since lived.
Ruby loved to knit, crochet, garden, can, play cards and attend Curves. She also loved to visit her grandchildren.
Ruby is survived by one son, Dennis Tesky, Bismarck; three daughters, Cheryl Huber, Oshkosh, Wis., Karen (Frank) Basting, Grand Forks, and Sandy (Keith) Tadeyeske, Pewaukee, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Kara (Courtland) Merrill, Ryan Tesky, Nathan Huber, Eric Huber, Joshua (Lindsey Lesczykowsky) Huber, Aaron (Brandi) Basting, Chad (Amber Kennedy) Basting, Phillip (Shawna Brevik) Basting and John (Lindsay Smith) Basting; one step-granddaughter, Maren (Tadeyeske) Wendt; eight great-grandchildren, Tanner, Jack, Adrian, Olivia, Reece, Emma, Marley Jo and Logan; two brothers, Elmer (Linda) Sailer, Beulah, and Eugene (Eldora) Sailer, Zap; five sisters-in-law, Ann (Dennis) Lokken, Wilma Tesky, Tillie Sailer, Pat Sailer and Florence Sailer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldor; four brothers, Erwin, Reynold, Alfred and Richard; and four sisters, Hertha Burow, Irene Sailer, Helen Sailer and Ardella Herrmann.
