Selma Emma (Becher) Lieb, 94, passed from this life to life eternal Feb. 19, 2021 at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 9 at Peace Church, New Salem, with Pastor Joshua Eddy officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Peace Cemetery.
Selma was born Feb. 2, 1927 to William F. Becher Jr. and Hannah (Abraham) Becher, in Youngtown. She attended elementary school through the eighth grade in the Youngtown area. Selma attended high school in New Salem for two weeks and when her father died she stayed home to help on the farm. On Feb. 8, 1945 she married Hilary E. Lieb and they farmed south of New Salem. They moved to New Salem in 1995. Selma loved animals, gardening, fishing, dancing, and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a longtime member of Peace Church in New Salem.
Survivors include her daughter, Janelle Johnson (Rodger), Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Julie Kirchhoff (Bryan) Lincoln, Neb., Sheri Johnson, Lincoln, Neb., and Ryan Johnson (Jill) Omaha, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Cole Kirchhoff, Ryley, Madeline and Samuel Johnson; sisters-in-law, Linda Peterson, Vancouver, Wash., and Francis Becher, Bismarck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Selma was preceded in death by her husband; parents; in-laws, Arthur and Hilda Lieb; brothers, Edward, Harry (wife, Tinnete), and Bennie Becher; brother-in-law, Arthur Lieb (wife, Louise); sister-in-law, Laverne (husband, Cecil) Parks; and sister-in-law, Cecilia Lieb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Elm Crest Manor, 100 Elm Ave, New Salem; Peace Church, 410 Elm Ave, New Salem or the charity of your choice.
