Shari was born Dec. 8, 1963, the daughter of Warren "Bill" and Opal Osborn in Hanford, Calif. One of five children, they moved to Oklahoma in 1969. She spent her summers visiting extended family including her grandmother, Dessie Rose Spencer, in California.
Shari grew up in Seminole, Okla., and graduated from Varnum High School, with honors, in 1981. Shari married Curtis Patzell on Nov. 17, 1983, and after living in several communities in Oklahoma in the 1980s, they moved to Bismarck in September 1990. Shari was the mother of three children, Cortney, 20, Mandan, Andrew, 18, Fargo and Brett, 13, Mandan.
She graduated from University of Mary with a degree in nursing in 1993. Since 1994, she worked at St. Alexius Medical Center as an RN in the women's surgery center. Shari not only loved the doctors and girls she worked with, but was able to devote her working career to her passion, care giving. The care giving was not limited to the patients in the operating room, but also to her family and her many friends.
Shari was an avid movie buff. She loved all movies with any variation of genre. Frequently, she could be seen with friends and family watching new releases on the big screen, watching DVDs or the old VHSs at home. She also had a passion for books. Constantly, she would immerse herself in the book for hours at a time. She had a propensity to do everything in her life in a big way. This included not only entertaining, visiting family and friends, and another passion, gardening, but most important her spiritual life with our Lord.
Shari is survived by her husband, Curtis; her daughter, Cortney; her sons, Andrew and Brett; one granddaughter, Isabel Rose; her mother and stepfather, Opal and Chester Holland, Miami, Okla.; her sister, Tammy Foster, Miami, Okla.; three brothers, Wendell, Waylon and Warren, Oklahoma; and many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill.
Shari's quick smile and giving of herself for others will be missed.
