Shirley (Eggert) Heyd Suhr passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at St. Gabriel's Benedictine Living Community in Bismarck, North Dakota after a battle with cancer.
Shirley was born August 19, 1941, in Hebron, North Dakota. She was the eldest daughter of Werner and Ora (Braun) Eggert. She was raised on the family farmstead in Hebron and graduated from Hebron High School in 1959.
On October 16, 1959, Shirley married Walter Heyd and they had two children, Cheri and Terry. They subsequently divorced and she married Henry Suhr on May 9, 1971. They had one son, Lloyd.
She worked for various employers throughout the years but mainly in the hospitality field.
In her spare time and retirement, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, ancestry recording, archiving news clippings, and playing online games and socializing with family and friends on her computer.
She is survived by bother, Wayne (Nancy) Eggert of Dickinson, North Dakota; her three children, Cheri Heyd (Jerry) Krueger of Jefferson, Oregon, Terry Heyd of Bismarck, North Dakota and Lloyd (Debra) Suhr of Bismarck, North Dakota; grandchildren: Chrissy Brausch, Steven Brausch, Jordan Heyd, Seth Heyd, Mikaela Suhr; step-granddaughter, Brittney Kruger; five great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by husband, Henry Suhr; her parents, Werner and Ora Eggert, and her sister Ruth Eggert.
She will be laid to rest at Saint John's Cemetery in Hebron, North Dakota. A private memorial service will be set at a later date.
