Wesley Hofmeister

Wesley C. Hofmeister, 70, Bismarck, passed away on Oct. 29, 2014, at CHI St. Alexius Health after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck, with the Rev. John O'Leary officiating. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.

Wes was born Oct. 22, 1944, in San Francisco, Calif., to H. Carl and Mary (Hankins) Hofmeister. He attended school in San Francisco. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

Wes was once married to Kathy Davis and they had one daughter, Terri Lynn. They later divorced and in 1973, Wes married Darlene Grindberg in Reno, Nev. In 1977, their son, Carl, was born. They divorced in 1984. He later married Darlene Moe Huwe. They later divorced, but remained special companions until her death in 2011.

He worked for several years as a chef in San Francisco and in North Dakota. He worked at Murphy Motors in Williston until his illness. Wes' caregiver for the last year was his stepson, David Huwe.

Wes is survived by his children, Carl and Terri Lynn; several stepchildren and step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and his ex-wife, Darlene Hofmeister.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, H. Carl and his wife, and Mary and George Brady; and other relatives.
