Deborah Hyatt Obituary

Deborah Hyatt, age 59, of Oakland, CA passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 15, 2021, after a battle with Stage Four Lung Cancer.

Deborah could make anyone feel welcomed. She was beautiful in and out. A smile that lit up any room she entered. Her talent for dance always came to the forefront whenever Janet Jackson or Prince played. From her love of holiday movies to her crocheting skills, she put her all into everything she did.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA to Harold and Mary (Middleton) Hyatt. Deborah was raised in Pittsburgh. She would later move to West Virginia to attend West Virginia State University, where she received her Associate's in Communications. Following her time in West Virginia, she moved to New York where she pursued a career in dance and theater at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Later she would attend Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, where she would acquire a Bachelor's of Arts in Communications and a Master's of Leadership.

Deborah is survived by her three children; Joshua Smith-Hyatt, Nakia Hyatt, and Brandy Hyatt, as well as her two brothers; Gerald Hyatt and David Hyatt. She was predeceased by Mary (Middleton) Hyatt (Mother), Harold Hyatt (Father), Harold Middleton (Brother), and Charlene Hyatt (Sister).

Deborah will forever be remembered for her warmth and kindness. A soul gone too soon, but those who knew her were lucky to bask in her sunlight even for a short while.
