Edna Johnson Obituary

Edna Marie (Mills) Johnson, 92, of Fair Play, was received by the Lord in Stockton, on March 27, 2025. She was born in Asheville, North Carolina, on June 25, 1932, to Herman Mills and Myrtle Marie (Hill) Williams. She grew up in Asheville and graduated from Lee H. Edwards High School. On April 16, 1951, she married Dale William Johnson of Fair Play, who was in the Air Force, in Greenville, South Carolina. To this union were born Lynn, Mike, Karen and Sheila. They were an active military family living in England, Germany, and in several different states across the United States before retiring to Fair Play, in 1971. She was active as a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout leader, Avon representative and military family assistance. She worked in a book bindery in Topeka, Kansas, Hagale's and Keys in Stockton, before retiring. She was a member of the Bethel Community Church, Madison Township, Fair Play.
In retirement she and Dale enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, playing cards, genealogy and spending time with family, especially grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, brother Victor Darrell Williams, sister Renith (Williams) Chancey and grandson Ryan Sipes. She is survived by her children, Lynn (Johnson) Sipes of Topeka, Kansas, Mike Johnson of Orcas Island, Washington, Karen (Johnson) Watson of Bolivar, Sheila (Johnson) Griggs of Stockton; sister Tanya (Williams) Shores of Savannah, Georgia and brother Corwin Williams (Debby) of Candler, North Carolina. Edna has seven surviving grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson, Shelly Sipes, Kimberly (Pyle) Woodcock (Tim), Kristin (Pyle) Wolf, Michael Griggs (Jesi), Megan (Griggs) Blakesley (Mike), Melena (Griggs) Gentry (Dylan), 16 great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, making five living generations.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to CMH Hospice. 111 W Broadway, Bolivar, MO 65613 or to the Bethel Cemetery Trust, in care of Beverly Stevens. 4740 S. 85th Road, Bolivar, MO. 65613
The services for Edna were Tuesday, April 1, at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery near Fair Play.
