Leonard Mahan Obituary

Leonard Joe Mahan was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on March 3, 1952, to William "Bill" and Betty Mahan.
Leonard enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974 and served on the USS Biddle during the Vietnam War, working on the ship's boilers. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1977 and moved to Pearl, Mississippi, where he worked on offshore oil rigs.
Leonard met Teresa and her daughter, Jayme in early 1996. Later that year, they were married. Leonard and his family lived and worked in Bethany, Oklahoma, for many years and then moved and retired to Bolivar in 2022 with their family. Leonard was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in early 2023 and, with the help of his doctors, was able to fight cancer and infection for two and a half years until his passing on Sept. 25, 2025.
Leonard will be remembered for his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, friendliness, joyfulness, sense of humor (with his unending jokes), his faithfulness to his wife and family, his playfulness and love for his family, especially his grandchildren.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Teresa Mahan; his beloved daughter Jayme Epple and spouse Matt; grandchildren Matthew, Sophia, and Brayden; parents William "Bill" and Betty Mahan; siblings, Lonny Mahan and wife Pama, Danny Mahan and wife Cathy, Becky Martin and husband Rick; and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Bolivar, on Friday, Oct. 3, at 10:30 a.m., followed by internment at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, located at 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, Missouri.

My brother-in-law, Leonard, will be missed. He was always joking, playful, lightening the mood. He was also strong and faithful husband to my sister, Teresa, and a special father to her daughter Jayme throughout their many years together. He was good to Jayme's husband Matt and their 3 children who called him 'Pops', he loved being their grandfather, 'Pops', and they loved him. They all made lots of good memories together.
